Easy Tasty Paleo, Keto and Vegetarian Fried Cabbage
This Capsicum Fried Cabbage is a a tasty side dish which is full of flavor. The cabbage is fried until it starts to caramelize around the edges to give it more flavor. A mix of red, green and yellow capsicums has been used to flavor the cabbage combined with some parsley and garlic leaves. This will take about 30 minutes to cook and for the cabbage to start going brown around the edges, though you can easily have it after 5 minutes of cooking depending on how well cooked you like your cabbage.
Easy Recipe Adaptations
You can use whatever color capsicums or combinations you have for your recipe. You can also choose to use one whole capsicum in one color. Garlic leaves were used in this recipe which you can substitute with scallions or chives. You can also use spring onion leaves though they will give your cabbage a distinct onion flavor.
*Capsicums are also known as Peppers depending on geographic location or which name you grew up using.
Capsicum Fried Cabbage Recipe
Cooking Time – 30 minutes
- 4 cups shredded cabbage
- One third sliced medium green capsicum
- One third sliced medium red capsicum
- One third sliced medium yellow capsicum
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 5 to 6 sliced garlic leaves
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil of choice
- salt to taste
In a pan at medium heat warm up the cooking oil.
Add the cabbage and top with the capsicums and leave it to cook turning it from time to time.
Cook until it starts to wilt and reduce then add the parsley and garlic leaves.
Keep frying and turning without leaving it to burn, until it starts to go brown around the edges.
Season it with salt and take it off the heat ready to serve.
