Turmeric is best known for it’s anti inflammatory properties, anti fungal and anti oxidant properties, as well as other well as other too many to list benefits. This recipe doesn’t include black pepper as it’s made to suit the AIP protocol, but you can add it to enhance the bioavailability of turmeric in your body.
In this quick and easy turmeric coconut latte shredded coconut is used as the milk and the latte brews at the same time, you’re making the milk. This eliminates worries about using canned coconut milk with additives, as well as the need to make your own milk in bulk and using it before it goes bad. Shredded coconut works better on the spot as instant milk. All you need is a blender and a coffee press /coffee plunger or you can use a fine sieve to strain, especially if you blend the coconut to a very fine consistency.
4 tablespoons shredded coconut, 1 teaspoon fresh grated turmeric, 3 tea cups hot water, cinnamon, honey or maple syrup
Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend at high power speed for a minute or so. If your blender is not powerful repeat the blending.
Pour into your coffee press and plunge or use a sieve to strain
Enjoy sweetened with maple syrup, honey or whatever you use. Sprinkle on some cinnamon.
