Cornstarch and Sugar Free Paleo and Keto Pork Fajitas Recipes With Caramelized Onions
This Easy Paleo Pork Fajitas Recipe is a quick recipe you can have ready in 30 minutes. The recipe combines fried onions with some capsicums and is seasoned with a combination of seasonings that go down well with pork. Beware if you buy some premixed fajita seasoning as it may contain cornstarch and added sugars which may no be inline with your chosen eating protocol. This recipe gets some sweetness from onions that have been fried until browned to release some sugar. The capsicums also add to the sweetness of the pork.
Serve these with lettuce cup leaves or a salad with avocados to keep it low in carbs.
Easy Recipe Adaptations
If you’re counting your macros on your keto diet this dish uses 1 medium onion and enough capsicums to make 1 whole one. Adjust the quantities to suit your required amount of carbs. If you’re not counting your carbs you can add more onions and capsicums if you enjoy them. Use any color combination of capsicums of your choice, or just 1 whole capsicum in a single color. You can also substitute pork with chicken in this recipe.
Easy Paleo Pork Fajitas Recipe
- 120 to 150 grams pork steak with no fat or with minimal fat
- 1 medium onion
- one third medium sized red capsicum
- one third medium sized green capsicum
- one third medium sized orange capsicum
- half a teaspoon chopped or grated garlic
- half a teaspoon paprika
- one quarter teaspoon cayenne pepper
- pinch of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- half a teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
- salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil of choice
Prepare to cook the fajitas by slicing the pork into strips, cut the onion half and slice into half rings and cut the capsicums into strips.
Add cooking oil to a pan and heat it up, then fry the pork until it starts to brown, for about 5 minutes.
Add the onions and fry with the pork until they start to wilt, in about 2 minutes, then add the garlic and capsicums.
Fry until the capsicums start to lose crispiness, wilt and go brown around the edges.
Season with salt and also add cumin, cayenne, paprika and chili and mix well.
Add lime juice and mix well
Fry for about a minute or 2 so the seasonings stick tot the pork.
Take it of the heat ready to serve.
