DARK CHOCOLATE BENEFITS
DARK CHOCOLATE eaten in moderation is good for you. It ranges in cocoa content from 70% upwards. Here we’re not talking about chocolate which contains more of the other stuff and less cocoa. The ‘flavours’ and names of other non dark chocolate have inspired me to recreate them in a healthier way and I must say the result was a pleasure.
RIPE CHERRIES WITH 70% DARK CHOCOLATE
The flavour of crushed cherries combined with the chocolate is so fresh and fruity. Just two honest to goodness flavours with nothing in between to glue them together or extend shelf life. You can use fresh or thawed from frozen cherries, and your favourite brand of chocolate.
DARK CHOCOLATE may also improve brain function. Cocoa has been found to increase blood flow to the brain. It has also shown to reduce heart disease risk for people that eat it most. Remember the higher the cocoa content the better for you.
70% DARK CHOCOLATE WITH A LIME TOPPING
I was shocked by the goodness of this combination. The lime just cuts through the flavour of the chocolate initially , then the rich chocolate taste comes through. This combination really works.
Enjoy this freshly done as lime will lose some of it’s tanginess after a while.
DARK CHOCOLATE is also a powerful source of anti oxidants. It also lowers blood pressure while improving blood flow. It has also been proven to reduce insulin resistance. Beautiful taste coupled with amazing health benefits.
CHOCOLATE AND STRAWBERRIES
Enjoy some fresh strawberries with a piece of dark chocolate. This combination is a tried and tested one. A tastier, and cleaner taste, as well as the health benefits without the worry of lots of addittives and preservatives used. So go ahead and enjoy this fresh flavoured chocolate without any guilt.
A FEW MORE WAYS TO ENJOY CHOCOLATE
BERRY CHERRY ALMOND CHOCOLATE POT
In a liitle secret stash away pot, or share pot, if you have to, mix a few cherries, strawberries, almonds, a bit of almond butter with 2 squares of dark chocolate. Keep in the fridge with spoon handy to scoop a bit, to have when the need arises.
FROZEN TOPPINGS AND CHOCOLATE
If you love a treat from the freezer, or need a more intense chocolate hit, scoop a bit from your chocolate pot onto a chocolate and freeze. Play around and try different toppings of your favourite flavours.
